Lanny Martin

Lanny Martin’s paintings are memorials to places and things close to her heart. The waters of the Gulf of Mexico and the Mobile Delta, the light filled, salty air are intermingled with ancient architectural facades and doorways. At times, she may focus on the exquisite detail in everyday objects, old weathered seashells, the human eye, flower petals, shadows and light.

It’s not so much what she paints but how she paints it that makes her paintings entice the viewer and touch some deep sense of contact and relationship. Her philosophy of life can be found in her work – evidence of life is in all things. "Visual splendor is worth recording by hand, recording of how things are is more about how they feel than how they look." Lanny’s paintings encourage meditation and imagination leaving the ultimate meaning to each viewer, with no single interpretation right or wrong.
